Borrowed Race Committee, Patrol, Mark Set,
Umpire or Judges Boat Insurance Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I insure a race committee boat, mark set boat, patrol boat that we have borrowed for a weekend regatta or a week-long event?

A: This program has been expanded to include insuring race committee boats on the temporary basis only. If you are borrowing any boat for more than 2 weeks, you will need to acquire insurance elsewhere. The maximum value for any hull and its equipment is $80,000 and the liability limit is $500,000. The Boat Value Amount you identify must insure the boat to value. What this means is, that you can not put down a $60,000 amount for a boat that is truly worth $100,000, as you’ll need to put down the actual value of a boat. Use the Borrowed Umpire and Judges Boat application for these needs. This insurance is not available for any boat that your organization owns or leases. Envelope with premium check and application must be postmarked or post mark cancelled by the U.S. Post Office, no later that the first date of the event.

Q: What prerequisites are there to get this coverage?

A: This coverage is only available to Sponsoring Organizations that purchase their Regatta Liability coverage through The David Agency.

Q: Can we get a higher valued boat insured here?

A: You don't, the deductibles are set based on the value of the boat.

Q: How is the value of the boat determined?

A: The Event Chair determines the value with each boat owner.

Q: Does this insurance cover damage to the boat only?

A: No.

Q: Does this insurance cover liability of injuring people or damaging other boats?
