Q: What is On-The-Beach
General Liability Insurance?
A: It
is a General Liability policy to cover the activities of your
organization over the land. This combined with Regatta Liability
Insurance takes care of some risks of small-sized organizations.
Q: What is considered a
"small-sized sailing organization"?
A:
This is a two part answer:
- Any organization that does not own or lease any
real property, regardless of revenue.
- If the organization owns or leases real
property, then annual revenues must be less than $25,000.
Q: What does this policy
cover?
A: It
is a general liability policy covering property damage or bodily injury.
For example, if your organization meets at a home of a member and a
valuable vase is accidentally knocked over, the homeowner files a claim
with his insurance company, then his insurance company subrogates
against your organization. We will pay for that vase. It is difficult to
imagine all of the "what ifs." If you have an example or are
unsure what this might cover, feel free to contact us.
Q: Who does this cover?
A:
The Applicant (ABC Yacht Club), ABC YC Directors and Officers are
protected persons only for their duties in those capacities.
Q: What is the Policy
Period?
A:
The date the completed application and valid check are received at The
David Agency will be your organizations effective date. The policy
expires on December 31 at midnight each year, regardless of when your
Organization elects to sign up. The premium is fixed. There is no
pro-ration or deducts for signing up late in the year. Therefore, the
policy period for your club, is the validation date through December 31
at midnight. Application forms are mailed out to organizations each
November, so sign up prior to December 31 for the upcoming year and
enjoy the coverage for all 12 months.
Q: Can I buy this
coverage alone?
A:
No. Regatta Liability insurance from The David Agency is a prerequisite
to purchasing this On-The-Beach Insurance.
Q: If we are not
eligible for the On-The-Beach Insurance, are we eligible for Regatta
Liability Insurance anyway?
A:
Yes, Regatta Liability is always available to all.
Q: Host Liquor is
included, what is it?
A:
Liquor sales are not covered by this policy. Should you freely give the
liquor away (host), the policy then covers injuries sustained as a
result of this liquor usage. Should you put a coffee can on top of the
beer keg requesting "donations" of $.25 a cup, you are selling
liquor and the coverage stops. Should you have a dinner where dinner and
wine is $12 and dinner and beverage is $10, that difference will be
considered selling, and coverage stops. Put a keg out there and let
everyone enjoy for no-charge, and your organization is covered.
Q: What is the most
difficult problem you deal with?
A:
Legibility of the applications. Some times we need to call you back with
clarification questions to help you out. When applying, please write
clearly and complete all answers.
Q: How much does it
cost?
A: On
the Beach (General Liability) Premium including $1,000,000 of coverage
is $350.00.
Q: Who is eligible to
become an "Additional Insured" under our Organization’s
certificate, and what is the charge?
A:
When your Organization is requested by an outside party to become an
"Additional Insured" on your Organization’s insurance, this
is limited to Governmental Bodies, Landowners or Regatta Sponsors. There
is a $50 charge per "Additional Insured". If the party is
requesting a simple Certificate of Insurance and not requesting to be an
additional insured, this simple "Certificate of Insurance" is
free. We need the "Name" of the additional insured or
certificate holder, their "address", the "attention
to," their "insuring clause" and, if expedited service
required, their "fax number." Make the check payable to The
David Agency, 385 North York Road, Elmhurst, IL 60126. Include
this request with your original application, or if requesting this after
you have already acquired the insurance, submit this to The David Agency.
Q: Does my organization
share the liability limit with all other organizations?
A:
No. Your organization will get its own policy with its own $1,000,000
limit. So rest assured that there are adequate funds to protect your
organization.
Q: Does this insure the
organization’s Sailing School?
A:
No. The instruction of students must be covered elsewhere.
